“La olla del Panecillo” – “The Pot of the Panecillo”

The Panecillo is located at the downtown, and is a well-known place. However, do you know the story behind to this place?

I want to tell you…

My grandma’ loved this story, and when I was a little girl she told me the story again and again. I really love this legend!

Once upon a time, there was a woman who took her cow to the Panecillo every day, so that it could eat. One day, while the woman was gathering some firewood, she left her cow near the pot and when she returned she did not found it.

The woman was very scared, she began to look for it at the surroundings. After some hours that she did not found the cow, the woman decided to enter to the pot and when she arrived there, the woman found a really big and awesome palace.

She did not believe it, but there was a beautiful princess who asked her:

-          Which is the reason for your visit?

-       I have lost my cow! And if I do not find it, I will be left in the greatest misery, the crying woman answered.

The princess, to calm the suffering of the lady, gave her an ear and a brick of gold. The woman thanked the princess and left happy with her gifts. But when she got to the door, she was shocked to see her cow return.

-There's my cow! The woman yelled very happy.

And that is how the woman and the cow returned home after that unforgettable adventure that was hidden in the Pot of the Panecillo.

That is a happy end of the story!
